Description:

This program will share the Jewish history in the region known today as the Republic of North Macedonia from the time of the Roman Empire until the present time. Information being shared is from her 2018 Jewish Heritage trip to Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, and Northern Greece and subsequent research that the trip sparked.  She also wanted to point out that she has no genealogical connection to the area.

Biography:
Susan Igdaloff, M.D. retired as a pediatrician in 2016. Professionally she worked in private practice, with children’s health programs for the State of California, and as a medical director for a large national health insurance company.  She is a founding member of Congregation Kol Ami, and this April was awarded the Spirit of Kol Ami award recognizing, in part, her contributions to education and social justice.  She enjoys traveling and has been fortunate to visit the birthplace of her paternal grandfather, Nevel, Russia, and of her maternal great grandmother, Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.  In 2018 she took a Jewish Heritage trip to Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, and Northern Greece.  This trip sparked research into the history of Jews in the region. Susan is a long time member of JGSLA.
