Ellen Jarosz, Head of Special Collections and Archives at CSUN, will speak about the Los Angeles Jewish experience. Recorded oral histories from the Jewish Family Service of LA, documents from the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles’s Community Relations Committee, and collections documenting experiences of Russian and German Jews who came to LA via China are just some of the available resources. The collections reveal a rich history of our countries of origin, war, social change, customs, traditions, and feelings about Jewish life. Whether your roots are long in LA or more recent, the experiences preserved in these recordings and documents are relevant and fascinating. You may even discover records about your own family. Here is a 2 minute video to meet Ellen and the collection.
Ellen Jarosz is Head of Special Collections and Archives at California State University Northridge, a past president of the Society of California Archivists, and former Associate Administrator of the Western Archives Institute.
