Laura Gold will speak about “Genealogical research behind planning a roots trip and taking the trip to Belarus and Ukraine”
Laura Gold has engaged in genealogical research since about 1995 when she received family trees for her mother’s family from her cousin. In investigating the family, she found out that her mother’s maiden name “Silverman” was changed from “Srebnik.” Thus, she developed a particular interest in name changes and has assisted others in identifying their original family name. She is retired from the Office of the Attorney General were she worked as a trial lawyer. A former college debater, she is a skilled public speaker and has made genealogy presentations to women’s organizations and coordinated a Roots class at the SAGE Society. At the International Jewish Genealogical Society Los Angeles Conference she led tours of Jewish Los Angeles
