Sunday Afternoon, February 18th, 2018

Speaker: Laura Gold:
Hitting a brick wall because you do not know your family’s name before it was changed in the United States ? This lecture focuses on methods of determining the original family name and understanding the name change process. When and why were names changed? How can you prove the name change? Source records will be examined for clues in name identification. After this lecture you will have the tools to identify the missing family name. When people wrongly assert that their family name was changed at Ellis Island, you can demonstrate the actual change of name process.
